Thinking of working remotely from an Airbnb? You aren’t alone! The number one thing on your mind must be the internet speed. We’ve spoken to a handful of expert travelers to curate the best tips and tricks for finding a vacation rental with great internet!

1) Use Airbnb’s “WiFi” filter

This may seem obvious, but still, all too often people forget to narrow their search down to listings that actually have WiFi before booking.

An Airbnb host tells you that their internet speed is 5 Mbps download. Will that be good enough to use the apps and websites that you need? Here’s how you can test it out:

  1. Open a new tab in chrome. Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner near your profile. Select “More Tools” and then “Developer Tools.” Don’t worry, we aren’t about to do any coding.

2) Click on “Network” in the top menu bar.

3) Click “Online” and then “Add.”

Due to the ongoing COVID crisis, we’ve heard from people that this year they plan on doing ski trips differently than they had in the past. With the option to work remotely, why not stay someplace for longer and only ski the best snow days? Required of course is that you have a good internet connection to get your job done.

We looked for places that have the following:

  • Great early season snowfall this year (a special year due to la niña conditions)
  • High-speed internet access
  • Affordable housing
